Damn Jeans

Yes, I'm still trying to lose my baby weight, and that means, literally (scale-wise) I have 8 more pounds to shed, figuratively (body wise) I don't know if I will ever entirely get back everything in it's proper place (does that ever happen??). People keep telling me that I will lose it when I stop breast feeding, but I don't know if I believe that because "people" also told me nursing would take off weight, and that the weight would be gone in 9 months (9 months up, 9 months back) but none of those have rung true for me, so I am not putting my eggs in the nursing basket either, I am really trying to work my butt off to , well, get my butt back.
Anyway, I went to Nordstrom the other day because I've always wanted to buy really cute, expensive jeans that fit me well. I always wear jeans that I inherit from people, friends or my Sister, Susan. Not that expensive jeans always fit you well, but designer jeans has been my weight loss inspiration since the beginning (actually when I was preggo I used to tell Adam that I was getting designer jeans as a push-present to myself --and then you know how we women are, your size is never small enough to justify spending $150 on demin fabric.)
Anyway, back to Nordstroms: I asked the girl to get me all the jeans she had in my size... and she brought me 4 pairs of jeans!! Seriously?!! And she said "Sorry, this is all we have in your size" Seriously, I wanted to deck her. I think her better angels were holding her tongue back from letting the words out "Maybe you should try a different department (like the plus size department)".
So as I left the store almost in tears and with no jeans, I came home to fill out an on-line weight loss program that I'll never do. As I was filling out the questionnaire, I got the munchies and ate TWO skinny cow ice cream bars! What the heck?? Am I trying to lose weight here or what? ugh. The whole weight loss thing is a joke. I am a horrible dieter and exercising with a baby seems near impossible (I can't imagine having more than one baby!). But I have made time to do it, but it comes at a price, I just don't have time to get my house as spic and span as I would like, or I don't have time to read a book I wanted to. In the end, hopefully my eight pounds will come off; and if they don't, it's totally worth it to have such a cute, healthy little angel.
But I have to admit, I think I was chomping down the ice cream in defiance of the Jeans sales girl, and the weight loss program and just all the pressure I feel to lose these last eight pounds that just don't want to budge. Sometimes we all need to rebel a little bit. There's one skinny cow left in the freezer...
p.s. I don't want to read any comments to this post about how your weight loss was easy and just "came right off"; I will only accept sympathetic comments, constructive suggestions, and/or a little poster of a kitty falling off the side of a bath tub saying "hold on!".

Crawling Video

Here is Madeline cruising down the hallway. Since we took this video she has learned to do short stairs too.

Mom and Babe at the Beach

Actually Adam was there too, but he was taking the pictures (for a change- just kidding). We had a fabulous time at Half Moon Bay beach, and Adam even jumped in the water and swam around a bit which was quite impressive because it was cold and windy. So I told Adam he had proved his manhood ;).
Half Moon Bay is a cute little beach town that's about a 30 minute drive from our house. Madeline loved playing in the sand, and finding dogs to look at, and trying to sneak little twigs into her mouth while I wasn't looking (Her favorite thing to do--no matter how fun the snacks I get her are, sticks always win out).
This is the link to the Ritz Carlton, which we did not stay at , but it is at half moon bay, and it is gorgeous! Look at the view!!! Yes, I did buy the huge Nichole Richie sunglasses... which I thought I would never do.
Don't mind the cleavage. Do you see her pointing? Her new thing is pointing at everything, it's soooo cute!
Wow, I look super chub in this pic, but it's a cute one of her crawling-- oh the sacrifices we moms make...

Thank you to Lauren!

I just need to say Thank You again to Lauren for the updated CUTE blog that she made for me. Thanks!! I totally LOVE it!!!

Golden Gate Park

We had fun Saturday at Golden Gate Park! It is HUGE! We went and saw the Botanical Gardens and the Stow Lake, etc. There is an awesome art museum also, but we didn't look through it.

This is our current residence

Nice, huh? It's AMAZING. I feel like I'm staying at a resort. I don't think this is supposed to be the law school experience, but hey, I'll take it. We are staying in Woodside, CA. Right next to Stanford, and 30 minutes from the coast and from San Fran. It is so beautiful here, and such a variety of scenery. But sadly, it's only for two months of the summer. We better live it up because we will never live like this again... especially in California.
My job for the summer is to try and find a place that we can actually live if we decide to move here. Ha ha! That's a JOKE. We drove by some ok-ish neighborhoods the other day and picked up a 'for sale' paper from just an average-ok-ish house, and the price tag was $1.275 million. Yeah. Not happening.
But I have no right to complain- we are staying in this fabulous resort-home in the middle of the redwood forest, in the most beautiful place I have ever seen. We'll just focus on the here and now and not worry about the future.
This is the night view from our bedroom deck. Sunrises are incredible. We can watch them every morning from bed. I am way too lucky and spoiled.

This is the dog, Beau, that we are watching. That's how we got the house, we're dog-sitting.
