Happy Valentine's Day (late)!

need I say more?  Hope you had some of these on V-day!!!  We had a great day, Adam made a really tasty Korean style filet mignon, with a salad and a Chocolate Lava Cake with raspberry Cheesecake ice cream for dessert.  YUM!  Not only did Adam do a great job of upping his cooking skills from TOAST to filet mignon, but I got to Surf the world wide web, instead of scrambling to get Madeline in bed while cooking dinner all while trying to keep a lid on the madness that ensues between 5-7 pm.  A welcome break, let me tell you.  

  I know I haven't posted in a while, but Happy Late V day, and here's to keepin' the love alive!

THIS!!  Cutest Quilts are here!   I am a very amateur quilter, (I've made two- and nothing this impressive) but I still LOVE quilting.  I love vintagy-handmade-heirloom stuff, and so quilting is a perfect art form for me.  I love that when you are quilting, you are having this sort of love affair with your fabrics.  You become OBSESSED; you can't quit until you have every piece of fabric that satisfies your craving placed in the perfect spot.  But the great thing is, you can have as many affairs as you want! When you finish one quilt, and are totally bored with your old lover, you move on to the next quilt.  haha.  and so it goes...  good thing I'm happily married or this would be a creepy post!

" Do you want to eat a baby?"

This is the yogurt we feed Madeline, it's called YoBaby.  It is expensive, but very healthy.  I have a thing against added cornsyrup in everyday foods which is why we buy this brand (can you believe they even add cornsyrup to Campbell's vegetable soup?  shocking,, I know. )  Anyway, she loves yogurt but doesn't yet understand the word "yogurt".  She does, however, understand the word "baby" and has catalogued in her head every single baby association she has made thus far in life.  Because each container of this yogurt has a baby on it, her yogurt is now associated with babies; and so when I ask her if she wants a yogurt, instead of asking "do you want a yogurt?" which will give me a blank star in response, I ususally just say "Madeline, do you want to eat a baby?"  lol.

Nice theme for 2009.  2009!!!  What?! I can and can't believe that 2008 is gone. 2008 marked my 10 year high school reunion  (no I didn't go but I wanted to...) and I'd been home from my mission 5 years ago in 2008.  Now I'm pushing 30- and  it's 2009 already!  Like Edna Mode, I'm not one for looking back, well, not looking back for long at least.  I love making goals and starting new years;  accomplishing new things and becoming a deeper person (hopefully).   But this year it's coming a little slower.  I have my list of goals almost ready to write down in my journal and bind myself to for the next year.  But I'm a little bit hesitant to actually do it... what are some of your goals?  Anything fun or interesting?  I really wanted to do the women's AF triathalon this year, but I got online and it is all sold out! I couldn't believe it, it's not until May! Forget that!  I guess I"ll just sit on my rump all year and get huge...  

I hope everyone had a very nice Christmas, we certainly did.  Adam got me a wheat grinder which I am so excited to try out!!  (I just got back from the grocery store where I bought 25 lbs of Hard Red Winter Wheat!!  To say I'm excited is an understatement... am I a nerd?  Yes.)  I did a little better than last year's Christmas present to Adam (a tie) and got him ski stuff and a pass to his favorite slopes.  Madeline got a baby doll and stroller which she is in LOVE with.  

So... Happy New Year!!  Here's to not looking back!

Kid Fun

Yesterday, some of my friends from my Novell days came over for lunch and to let the kiddos play.  Here is a video of MJ and Cannon riding on the zebra together, and no it's not a two-seater.  ;).   I was waiting for MJ's shirt to come out of the dryer which is why she is a little immodest!

Long awaited pictures

I know you guys have waited on edge for these pictures... drum roll please... Our halloween costumes!  Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife Beth.  Am I aware that it's December 1st and everyone else in the world has posted their Halloween pictures?  Yes.  Do I feel bad about posting these late?  No way.  I'm not sure how I feel about Adam's G-less halloween costume, but oh well, the sin be upon his head.  And yes, I have added those Cheetah print capris to my wardrobe... they're HOT!

Best White Bread Recipe

This is Julia Child's White Bread Recipe, and it is the best I have found so far ( I have made it 4 times, and every time has been a success) and so easy to memorize.  

2 1/2 cups water

1 T yeast

1 T sugar

7 cups flour

1 T salt

1/2 cup butter, softened

1.  Mix 1/2 cup warm water with sugar and yeast until it proofs.

2.  mix the yeast mixture, plus the remaining water and 3 1/2 cups of flour and salt.

3.  Add a couple more cups of flour,

4.  Add butter

5.  Add as much more flour as you can.

6.  Turn out to knead.

7.  Knead for approx. 15 min.

8.  Let rise twice,

9.  Bake at 375 for 35-45 min.  

Eat while hot with butter and fresh jam!  It is soooo good.  The next time I make it I will try it with oil to see how it turns out, but the butter does add this great rich buttery flavor that is great!  For more info: go here.
